Connect SMS (Arkesel)

Text messages from Communications and the daily reminders in Settings go out through your school’s Arkesel account.

1. Sign in to your Arkesel account and copy your API key from its developer or API settings page.
2. In èLyn, click Add Integration.
3. Give it a Name, for example School SMS, and set Type to SMS Gateway.
4. Paste the key into API Key.
5. Under Sender ID, type the name the message should come from, for example ASANTEMEM. Keep it to 11 characters and use one Arkesel has approved for your account.
6. Set Status to Active and click Save Integration.

Tip: To check it works, go to Settings → Automations and click Run Now on a reminder, or send yourself a short message from Communications.

Take fees online (Paystack)

With an active Paystack connection, parents can pay their child’s invoices online from the parent portal, and the payment is recorded against the invoice for you.

1. In your Paystack dashboard, open Settings → API Keys & Webhooks and copy your Secret Key and Public Key.
2. In èLyn, click Add Integration and set Type to Payment Gateway.
3. Paste the Secret Key into Secret Key (Paystack) and the Public Key into Public Key (Paystack).
4. Copy the Webhook URL shown on the form and paste it into the same Paystack page.
5. Set Status to Active and click Save Integration.

Important: don’t skip the webhook URL. Paystack uses it to tell èLyn a payment went through. Use your test keys first, then swap in the live keys when you’re ready.

Attendance Device

If you have fingerprint or card-reader (RFID) hardware for checking students in, it needs a token to talk to èLyn. This is separate from Attendance QR.

• Click Generate Device Token. Copy the token into the device’s settings straight away: it is only shown once.
• Rotate Token makes a new token and stops the old one at once. Use it if the token may have leaked.
• The bin button revokes the token, so the device can no longer check students in.

The device sends each student’s admission number. Your hardware supplier sets up the connection using the details shown on the card.

FinAccounting accounting sync

If your school also keeps its books in FinAccounting, èLyn can send every fee receipt, expense, payroll run and journal there automatically. A voided receipt or expense is reversed there too.

1. Ask your FinAccounting administrator for an API key for your company with the Ledger Integration role, and for the company’s ID number.
2. Fill in FinAccounting site address, Company ID and API key.
3. Optionally pick Send entries dated from (blank sends the whole history) and tick the box to bring balances forward as an opening journal.
4. Click Connect and test.
5. Click Map accounts and match each èLyn account to a FinAccounting account. Use suggestions for unmapped accounts fills in likely matches; check them, then click Save mapping.

After that it runs in the background every few minutes. Sync now sends straight away, Sync log shows each entry and lets you Retry failed ones, and Pause stops sending until you click Resume.

Entries that use an account you haven’t mapped wait until you map it. The start date can’t be changed once entries have been sent.

Good to know

• Saved keys are never shown in full. When editing, leave the key box blank to keep the current one.
• Only Arkesel (for SMS) and Paystack (for payments) actually connect. The Email Service and Other types just store a note; outgoing email is set up in Settings.
• Only one active SMS gateway is used. If you add a second, set the old one to Inactive or delete it.
• Disconnecting FinAccounting stops sending and removes the key. What was already sent stays there.
