Discipline

Record and manage student discipline cases.

Discipline is the school’s behaviour book. Log each incident against the student involved, say how serious it was, and note what action was taken, so you have a fair, dated record when you need to talk to a parent or decide on a sanction.

  • Where Operations → Discipline
  • Who can use it Anyone whose role includes Discipline. Everyone with access can add, edit and delete incidents.
  • Set up first Students

The Discipline screen

Four boxes at the top show Total Incidents, incidents This Month, Severe Incidents and Students Involved (how many different students have at least one incident).

The Incidents table below lists each incident with its date, student, category and severity. Severe incidents show in red and moderate ones in amber.

If your school has more than one campus, use the drop-down beside Log Incident to see only one campus. A student counts under the campus of their class.

Log an incident

  1. Click Log Incident.
  2. Search for the Student by name or admission number and pick them.
  3. Check the Incident Date (it starts on today).
  4. Type a Category, for example Lateness, Uniform or Fighting.
  5. Choose the Severity: Minor, Moderate or Severe.
  6. Describe what happened under Description, and what was done under Action Taken, for example Detention on Friday; parent informed by phone.
  7. Click Save Incident.

Tip: Use the same category words every time (for example always Lateness, never Late or Late coming). Categories are free text, so consistent wording keeps your reports tidy.

Choosing a severity

The app doesn’t set any rules for each level; agree a simple scale with your staff. For example:

SeverityExample
MinorLate to assembly, untucked shirt
ModerateRepeated lateness, rudeness to a teacher
SevereFighting, theft, leaving school without permission

If no severity is chosen, the incident is saved as Minor.

Update or delete an incident

Click the pencil icon to change the category, severity, description or action taken, for example to add the outcome of a meeting with the parent. The student and date are locked once saved; if either is wrong, delete the incident and log it again.

Click the bin icon and confirm to delete an incident permanently.

Good to know

  • Logging an incident doesn’t notify the parent or change the student’s status. Contact the family yourself, and suspend or withdraw a student in Students if needed.
  • Each incident is for one student. If three students were involved, log it three times.
  • After you save, edit or delete an incident, the list goes back to all campuses.
  • For a summary across the school, run the discipline summary report in Reports.
