Subjects is your school’s list of every subject taught, such as Mathematics, English Language or Integrated Science. You add each subject once here, then say which classes take it in Class Subjects.
- Where School → Subjects
- Who can use it Anyone whose role includes Subjects. Teachers can still pick subjects in Score Entry, Assignments and the LMS without it.
Add a subject
- Click Add Subject.
- Type the Subject Name, for example Mathematics. This is the only required field.
- Add a short Code if you use one, for example MATH.
- Click Save Subject.
Next, assign the subject to the classes that take it in Class Subjects.
Tip: A starter template in Streams & Classes can add the usual Ghanaian subjects for you.
Credit hours (tertiary)
If your school runs tertiary levels, the form also has Credit Hours, for example 3. Credit hours weight each course in students’ GPA and CGPA, and the subjects list shows them in their own column.
A school with both tertiary and basic or SHS levels sees Credit Hours (tertiary courses only). Leave it blank for basic and SHS subjects.
The cards at the top
- Total Subjects: every subject on the list.
- With a Code: subjects that have a code.
- Assigned to Classes: subjects at least one class takes.
- Not Yet Assigned: subjects no class takes yet. Assign them in Class Subjects, or delete them if you don’t need them.
Edit or delete a subject
Click the pencil to rename a subject or change its code. The new name shows everywhere straight away.
Click the bin and confirm to delete it.
You can’t delete a subject that is still assigned to a class. Remove it from those classes in Class Subjects first.
Careful: deleting can’t be undone. If marks have already been entered for the subject, rename it rather than deleting it.
Good to know
- Subjects are shared by the whole school; there’s no separate list per class or campus.
- Teachers are given their subjects in Teaching Staff, not here.
- To leave a subject out of the overall grade on report cards, use the report card settings in School Setup.
